KNIGHTS AND TROUBADOURS

Blow trumpet, for the world is white with May;
Blow trumpet, the long night hath roll’d away!
Blow thro’ the living world – “Let the King reign.”

Knights and Troubadours

On the crystal clear lake, in the mountains, I met for the first time the Sun Knight. I had longed to meet him, knowing that he was such a pivotal figure in the history of Warlord. And to me a great honor, meeting the man who long ago deemed my music worthy of listening to. Yes, we met by the lake with his brother and Phoebus-Apollo, For me, it was like meeting a long lost brother . . . not so much "long lost," but indeed a brother I never knew personally. Thus, beyond a handshake we embraced by the crystal lake. The setting was one of beauty, power, and mystique, but it was apparent at the outset that the Sun Knight and I were kindred spirits when it came to aesthetics and intellectual dialogue. The man is very impressive, conveying the power of a thoroughly well-read and well-spoken man. At the same time, a soft spoken, thoughtful man, with a kind heart and hospitable nature. No arrogance about him one bit. Kindly, he made my daughter and I feel comfortable and welcome. We sat out on the lake in the early eve when the winds reached a bit of a chill and then we moved on to his home nearby. Our families greeted one another and the ladies prepared dinner fit for a king. It was such an honor for me to be treated in this way. I don't ask for much, but the Sun Knight had prepared this night as if someone important was coming to his home. Not a thing was out of place - everything was "perfect." With beautiful music playing in the background, he gave us a tour of his home which was/is like a museum. Everything in the home, all his collections, ancient artifacts with certification and more were given to me to hold. Just to touch a part of the ancient past of the great Motherland was an honor to me. I truly felt "connected" to something much greater than myself, and that was the history of ancient Greece. And the tour was never-ending. Mariah (my daughter) at one point told me, "He is very kind, very sophisticated, and his home is like a museum." But every step we took presented us with something else of great meaning. I don't have to say anything about the classy music the Sun Knight had playing for us. And while we sat and talked like old warriors recalling old battles, wonderful gourmet dishes were being prepared for us by his lovely wife and wonderful sister-in-law. And, oh, nothing was spared, The table was one prepared for chivalrous knights with so many delicacies to choose from. The ladies had done their best, and it was among the most delicious meals I've ever had, not only in Greece, but in my life....

Meanwhile, the conversation continued as one of sophistication, intellect, and class. I was truly in the presence of one who was a 'renaissance man,' one who could converse sagaciously with deep resources of knowledge. Anyone who knows me understands that I need such conversation to live. And just as the gourmet dishes were before me feeding my body, so too was my soul fed by the great fellowship we had together. Thus, both my body and soul felt 'at home' in the presence of the Sun Knight, his brother, my daughter, and my friend. The appetizers, the several tasty dishes, the desserts, and wine; I will never forget the beauty of the table and what the Sun Knight's lady had prepared for us. Nor will I forget each piece in the house having some great importance (whether artistic, historic, or otherwise). The shelves of books reflected a man who was well read and highly educated. Indeed a refined man in every sense of the word. And what a home it was/is, level upon level upon level, a museum yes, but with everything so perfectly in its place, and everything so clean and neat, I didn't expect anything less from such a one as the Sun Knight. But I must say I was impressed beyond words. He is a kind, humble man, thoughtful man, but strong in character, very friendly, a listener who surveys the conversation and a man who doesn't speak without deep thought. It was indeed a night that was foretold by his own words long ago - a meeting that needed to happen. Even the stars aligned themselves for this meeting and night of fellowship And though six hours passed from sundown to late night, it was a night that I will always cherish and never forget. And "gifts" too were presented to me and my daughter - beautiful, thoughtful, and original gifts. I really felt that I was in the presence of a true knight - someone who holds to a strict code and does not divert from it regardless of what others may say. That night in May, I met a real renaissance man - indeed one of the most impressive people that I have ever met. If only I had a month to spend with this man, then we would really get to know each other. Nevertheless, during our short time together, I felt like had met a "kindred-spirit, indeed even a man I had known my whole life. I truly felt at congruence with him. And already sensing that he would be my life-long friend, I was indeed correct about that. I am more than proud to call the Sun Knight my lifelong friend - but even more, a true brother (in the real sense of the word). I only hope that I can spend more time with my brother in days and years to come. To return to that hidden clear lake in the mountains and talk with my brother. As we all know, it is rare when you come across a kindred-spirit, a person you feel that you have known all your life. Well, this was the case with me and the Sun Knight. And not only is the impression and experience of that evening etched in my mind, but it is etched in my daughter's minds as well . . . every now and then we recall that memory and she smiles with the greatest respect for the Sun Knight and how he and his family gave to us one of the best nights in our lives.

I am sure that knights and troubadours will soon meet again to that hidden, crystal clear lake in the mountains to celebrate the return of the King…

“The King will follow Christ, and we the King
In whom high God hath breathed a secret thing.
Fall battleaxe, and flash brand! Let the King reign.”
